In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Scott has voluntarily issued a safety recall on its 2014 model year Speedster 30 and 40 and Contessa Speedster 25 and 35 bicycles.
The recall issue
These bicycles have been recalled because the fork steerer can break (the steerer is the part of the fork that's hidden inside the frame). If this happens, it poses a fall hazard to riders. The recalled Scott bikes were sold at authorized Scott dealers at retail and online between about August 2013 and May 2014 for between $1,000 and $1,300.
There has been 1 reported incident of a fork breaking. No injuries have been reported.
How to identify if you have this bicycle

The bikes have the brand name “SCOTT” and the model name “Speedster” on the frame. They were sold in Black and White with blue, green, purple or teal accents.
